    Hey All,

    Im just wondering is there any way to try and talk eircom networks etc... to improve the lines in an area..

    My house is fibre enabled but I only actually get a max of 30meg... I'm wondering if there is a tactic to use to get them to upgrade the lines so I can get a better connection?

    Thanks,
    Fionn

    How close are you to a fibre enabled street cab?
    Keep in mind, distance as the cable is run from that cab will decrease the speed obtainable on a line.

    Maybe Eir(com)s official map might be more useful;

    There is no upgrading the lines. You're getting the most a copper line can take at that range.

    The next step is FTTH, thats coming to 66+ towns. Google is only throwing up the 50 town list at the moment (thanks eir rebrand):
    Arklow, Letterkenny, Athlone, Limerick City, Balbriggan, Little Island, Ballina, Longford, Ballincollig, Mallow, Bray, Maynooth/Kilcock, Carlow, Midleton, Carrick-on-Shannon, Monaghan, Carrigaline, Mullingar, Castlebar, Naas/Johnstown/Sallins, Cavan, Navan, Celbridge, Newbridge, Clonmel, Portlaoise, Cobh, Roscommon, Cork City, Shannon, Drogheda, Skerries / Rush, Dundalk, Sligo, Ennis, Swords /Malahide/Portmarnock, Enniscorthy, Tralee, Galway City, Tramore, Gorey, Tullamore, Greystones, Waterford City, Kilkenny, Westport, Killarney, Wexford, Leixlip, Wicklow.
    They'll have it by 2020. Rest will get it by 2025 at a guess.
