How can I get podcasts on an android phone ?

I have recently switched over from an iPhone to a one plus 2, and I'm looking for an app where I can download podcasts such as football weekly that o can listen to offline. Something like podcasts on iOS.

You'll need to pay for it, but I highly recommend Pocket Casts:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.shiftyjelly.pocketcasts&hl=en

Could you do me a favour and check if these 3 are available on it

    Football Weekly - The Guardian
    Sunday Suplement - Sky Sports
    Dublin Talks - 98FM

    If so I'll buy it

Just checked and all three are available to "subscribe" to.

Im kinda in the same boat im looking for a podcast app, with pocketcast can i download the podcast for offline use or does it need a data connection for streaming? I prefer to have the podcast on my phone and not rely on a data connection

I use Beyondpod on my phone. Does what I need and has a car mode with bigger buttons to hit when driving.

You can download and play later. I have mine set to automatically download over wifi, so I can play it, when I am on the go.

Second this. You don't need to lay for a podcast app.

Saved me €3, and does the job perfectly.

Ditto. I find it brilliant. It also does live radio streams, which I like because I don't need to install per-station apps.

I paid the couple of euro to get the ads off it because I use it all the time and I prefer not to have ads, but it's not feature-crippled in its free version.

Tried a load of different apps, settled on podcast Republic

Google Play Music is just about to add podcast support, iirc.

Just to throw in my two cents.....I used BeyondPod for ages and I still think its the best but I stopped using it when the tracking was miles out for some reason on a particluar custom rom, now I use Player FM and it works great to be fair. I sign in with my Google account which retains the subscriptions after a reinstall, handy for me if I'm messing around with other custom roms etc.

I like Pocket Casts, particularly the speed feature - I listen to everything on 1.5x speed.
