Steps in extension

I'm looking at a house purchase and it's a fab house bar the fact the extension is a different level. It's a huge issue of mine- hate steps down stairs and I don't know why people do this. Anyway there's a sitting room down a step - I can live with this- but the now hall is also part of the extension so there's a little step in the middle of the hall up to the rest of the hall. Not even a full size step. Ideally I'd get rid of this.
How would I go about that and is it a big job to raise the height of the existing floor? It'd be raising say 4-6sqm up by about 5-6 inches I'd say. Is that a big job? Appreciate any thoughts!!!

Could you ramp it instead? It might be a cheaper alternative.

You say not even a full size step so I'm going to assume it's about 140mm or so. At a 1:12 ramp, you would need 1.70m and a landing (0.9m or so each side) = 3.5m between 2 door opes along the hall. You could obviously go shallower than 1:12 if you have the space, though you can't/shouldn't go steeper.
