My phone's screen cracked after a fall today :(

Any idea how much would it cost?
Could I get it changed in local shop? It's still under Samsung warranty. Attaching photo of the damage

    thanks everyone!

You dropping your phone I am afraid is not under Samsung warranty.

Yes I know a cracked screen is not covered by warranty but I was thinking if a local repair shop would fix it, is the warranty going to be over?

The phone is working fine. Meaning LCD and digitizer are not damaged. Its only the glass cover which is cracked. I checked on amazon it's available for 20€ including some tools with it, but it's quite complicated to open s6 and would require more tools plus I am not expert with these things. I am going to check locally if a technician could help to replace the glass.

any other suggestions are most welcome.

Seem to remember AMOLED phones require you to replace both the screen and the digitizer.

Only real good option is to send it to FonFix http://www.fonfix.ie/

I got a regular S6 repaired a month back by them for €180. They replaced the front and back and the middle metal frame on the phone for that price, and they're an authorised Samsung repair centre, so your warranty won't be voided like it would if you went to repair shop on high street etc. I checked their website there and it looks like it costs €240 for the S6 edge

As per YouTube videos it's not necessary in s6 edge. They could be wrong though

That's great. I will ask them if it's any cheaper in my case, as back, and sides are perfectly fine. LCD is working smoothly. Only cracked glass cover.

Oh that looks nasty.. hopefully it'll be less than €240.
You could also consider selling it "as is" and upgrading to an S7 edge?

As a matter of interest did you have any case on the phone at the time?

Could you not fubar it and claim for a new one on the insurance?

The cheapest you'll get an S6 Edge screen is €200 fitted. It takes about an hour and requires the LCD and glass to be replaced. It's either pay up or claim insurance unfortunately. Samsung don't be able to assist :(

I bought it as prepaid phone so I have to upgrade from my own pocket.
It does looks nasty when screen is off but when you start using the phone you can notice only the side crack.
I won't be getting edge screen again in future, they are least durable on bend tests.

Yes the phone has cover which protects the back and sides as you could see in the picture.

Where is this place who could fix it all for 200?

yes more expensive to replace due to the more complex design it seems.

phones are a bloody scam these days - 600 to 800 euro for something that will probably last max 2 years (due to sealed-in non-replacable battery degrading to the point that it won't hold a decent charge and won't last a day) if it doesn't get smashed beforehand.

at least the competition is heating up where you can now get a phone with decent specs for 300 (Xiaomi, One plus, Huawei) euro, albeit not the last 10% style factor of Apple or Samsung or Sony.

That's so true about the sealed battery aspect.

My current phone is almost 2.5 years old. I had to replace the battery after about 2 years. Luckily it has a removable battery so I'm still going strong.

Looking to update some time this year but I'm now not under pressure which is a great advantage.

The way I see it, personally I'll be buying something in the €350 range (oneplus 3, Mi5 pro, forthcoming Moto etc) or if a more expensive phone then I'll be looking at a replaceable battery like the LG G5.

Yep. He does shipping throughout Ireland. I think it could add €20 to the total now. It was 6 months ago since the last time I had an S6 edge plus replaced so hopefully it's come down in price :-)

Just checked on his website it says 205 euros for s6 edge.

but looks like shipping option may not be the safest. I will check locally or go to his shop personally one day and get it fixed on the same day.

A friends s6 edge screen cracked, similar way to mine.

Whats the best place to get it fixed now?

I got mine fixed for 250e from fonfix 6 months ago and results were ok.
