I am having the house decorated - the wallpaper is being stripped etc. The painters have a few more days work but have piles of my black bags filled with rubbish, paint tins, wallpaper etc etc. Should they be responsible to remove all the rubbish when they have finished?. I would really appreciate your reply.

Unless I'm asked or specify in quotes that I'll take away rubbish then it is the homeowners responsibility to get rid of the rubbish. At the end of the day the rubbish has come from your house. The paint you will have bought so are your paint tins.

Rubbish is the householders to take care of, though if it was my bin day and there was room, I would take as much as I could.

Most contractors will charge you extra for taking away rubbish after all it's your rubbish and them taking it away will cost them extra time and money. TBH you're lucky they cleared it into bags I've seen some places where even that is done by the homeowner. BTW paint tins can't be put in the bin you need to take them to your local recycling centre to be properly disposed of.

I was told off once at the recycling depot. Was told they don't take commercial paint tins.
Started whinging about cost of recycling paint.
Rubbish I'm referring to is old wallpaper.

thanks so much for your replies. Actually the men took away everything - without being asked. They were fantastic. I would certainly have them again.
