NWPS section 42

    Has anyone ever applied for a section 42 to shoot game birds outside of their hunting season(wood pigeon)? I've always had positive experiences with the nwps so I imagine it isn't that hard to get signed off by the minister, with due reason of coarse.

    You don't need a sec 42 to shoot wood pigeon outside their game season if they are causing damage to crops. They can be shot all year round under the standard derogations if causing damage - same with crows and magpies.

    But only when a section 42 is passed by the minister will it be legal to shoot them, or so I'm told by the nwps. Lots of rig ma role I know...

    The derogation is the minister signing off on it.

    These derogations are issued on a yearly basis, shortly after the end date of the previous year's one another will be issued based on the departments decisions.

    Because of some misinterpretations and lack of knowledge from individual it's best for peace of mind to run off a copy and throw it in the car, in case your challenged
