    So I went to pub yesterday after work, say 5 ish, a few trades men hanging about, a few gamblers, a few alcoholics, an entertaining bar man and a couple of farmers, all in the mix. I left with 6 free range eggs from the farmers, a nodge from the tradies and a Coors light promotional hat from the barman. Sound.

    Go on... Where in Rural Ireland?

    Nice one for the nodge but that Coors Light hat should be burned.

    Urban dictionary says "an accident-prone individual, or a technological disaster waiting to happen".

    This doesn't help really.

    Nodge = bit of hash

    Coors light, sh1t hash and a few eggs; our country friends are easily amused. I'll stick to my craft IPAs, bubble kush and authentic Vietnamese omelette on the way home thanks...

    yeah, I moved to rural Ireland from Houston, where there were five local breweries within a half-hour's drive of my flat, a friend who helped run a medical marijuana dispensary out in San Francisco, and a pho/banh mi joint literally across the street. I'll take my country place, and manage on the beer down at the Centra, the fresh air, and my Vietnamese cookbooks.

    Fair play.

    Heh, I could give you my old address for you to verify it, but I'm not outing my friend, especially given that she used to bring a stash with her in violation of all known laws (too bad I don't seem to have the body chemistry to appreciate it properly). And pho is not difficult to make, banh mi are easier still, and the only thing I miss from America is Huy Fong sriracha sauce. You can't overestimate the value to a tired-out Yank city chick in the view from her Irish country window.

    I suppose you'll be paying about 10 quid for the privilege of drinking the said craft IPA out of a dirty broken bottle some lad found while digging a foundation

    Did you have to rob all of them?

    So the only solution at nearly 4 am in rural Ireland is.....put on the heat!

    The polling booths closed 24 hours earlier.

    There's no point bigging up your 'recovery' now.

    (hours later)

    I'm sorry for your loss, whoever you are.
