    Hi folks,
Couple of satellite stations gone on my aunts ariva box. Ewtn , showcase and Irish tv.

I've tried retuning but get no programme found. All other stations seem fine.

Could it be issue with lnb alignment or broken lnb.

    Cheers,
    Mick

It's possibly a dish alignment problem as they are on one of the weaker TPs. Try a manual scan of 11225 H 27500 2/3. If the LNB was faulty far more channels would be missing.

I have a somewhat similar issue. Old Sky dish and Saorview aerial, both feeding two Ferguson Ariva Combo 153 boxes, one upstairs, one downstairs.

Downstairs all working fine - upstairs Irish Saorview stations fine, other stations either 'no signal' or they come on for a few minutes and flicker to 'no signal' and then go off.

I have checked all connections that I can access/see.

Sounds like a connection or LNB problem. Could water have got into the upstairs cable at the LNB?

The other possibility is to switch around the cables at the LNB and see if the problems switch from upstairs to downstairs - might be a faulty output on the LNB.

I think I'll get my installer to come back when he gets a chance. I don't want to go poking at anything I don't understand. Thanks for your reply.

Ok back with this.. My aunt got a new dish installed and aligned... Those 3 stations are still not working. Ewtn will come on for few minutes then breakup. Interesting thing is a couple of her neighbours experiencing same thing. Away from sligo town on my parents TV the channel is fine as it is in Dublin on my TV. Could there be something in the atmosphere or something causing an issue?
    Weird
    Thanks,
    Michael

So strange outcome with this. My aunt had installer back yesterday... new dish and lnb perfectly aligned and no line of sight issues.. couldnt pick up ewtn.. he spent hour taking down dish and walked around the garden looking for signal.. at the end of the garden the signal picked up and he was able to install the dish on a pole there.. seems bizzare... could there be a signal in the area interfering ? i know eircom would have a few masts that would be in the area...

I was thinking maybe something like one of the inverto lnbs might help but she sorted now anyway...

    A cordless phone?

No normal landline... Wouldn't interfere with dish outside?

Yeah I'd say it's possible, AFAIA the frequencies the satellites broadcast on are also used terrestrially for point-to-point links.

I think it is all down to a weak signal. I have a 1.1 m dish in Dundalk and Irish TV and Showcase are on one of the weakest transponders. I get 10.4 dB signal. EWTN is on another transponder, again weakish 11.1 dB. By comparison Channel 5 is 20 dB. Most transponders are around 13 to 15 dB.

When you say all other stations seem fine, you would not know how many more could have been missing unless you did a full scan. Which would produce about 950 stations, if you scanned for pay TV channels as well as Free. Does the receiver have a signal strength reading where you can compare signals on different transponders?

Your aunt probably has a smaller dish, and possibly her location in Sligo ? if I read correctly might mean a slightly weaker signal compared to the East coast.
