How do I admit myself to a mental hospital? Can I show up without consulting a GP?

    Psychiatrist will refer you

It is perhaps most straightforward to go via your GP. However, in an urgent case you can also attend Accident & Emergency at your local hospital.

In the mean time, do you have someone to talk to? http://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/contact-us/calling-samaritans-roi

There are also other services available that are tailored for specific categories of user, like Childline https://www.childline.ie/ and BelongTo http://www.belongto.org/

You can bring yourself to the A+E if you feel you need to. They will have someone on call. I hope you are ok

    Do you have health insurance?

If it is an urgent situation, you should go straight to your local A&E. Otherwise your GP can refer you.

I believe self-referrals are possible for some private hospitals, however ideally the referral should come from a GP/psychiatrist who has assessed you prior to admission.

May I ask why you want to go?
