ICU results ticker

    Just so it doesn't be buried in the Armstrong thread, players can now log on to the ICU website to report league results (or indeed other results) for all to see.

    Obviously the detail on LeinsterChess.com is great and gets updated quickly, but this is a nice extra feature if it gets used by clubs.

    Personally I think it's a fantastic idea, and somehow they should integrate the scorecard which would make things a lot easier than having to submit results on different pages. All captains should be notified about this new system and results to be submitted within a 24 hrs period.

    It is LCU's job to collect and post league results in a timely manner and NOT ICU. ICU website was hijacked not too long ago and IMO Not a great idea to give unfiltered access to ICU ticker as it will be abused, An ICU member could be pissed and post nonsense, for example does anyone care who played on board 4 in the match between Balbriggan vs Bray and the score on that particular board, which is now on ICU ticker ?. someone should moderate the ticker and check requests for postings there couple of times a day and only important individual results, important notices or team match results be allowed to be put on the ticker. Yes , the ticker needs a moderator !.

    A number of members of the executive act as moderators. They are able to either delete a result, or else ban the reporter from reporting any more results.

    So far, nobody has had to be banned from reporting.

    It's good to know, My Thought on reporting of a single player's result is that, it should be of significance to be put on the ticker , for example , someone winnig their section in a tournament, or getting a Norm , David vs Goliath result or an important overseas competition, don't want to be reading Seamus Duffy's result every time he plays a match. if many players do it, it will clog up the ticker with junk info.

    My guess is after a period of patchy reporting of chess results ,result ticker will mature to a News (Alert ) ticker and will start giving us news & inform of impending events , Live games , etc.
