raced last weekend and the unit worked perfectly. Monday spin there was no reading on the head unit or the laptop at home. Replaced the battery this evening and although the power meter is detected now, it is flitting in and out, it is detected and then goes blank. also when it does detect it, there is no reading on the head unit/laptop.

do I need to do something else after replacing the battery?

thanks in advance for any advice

Normally no, I am on my third battery. No problems with the changeover

he's using a renata cause i sent it to him.

any signs of corrision in the battery bay? i'm on my third battery, two from the batch i sent you the one from, and no issues like that. replace and works fine. probably due a change again so can update if the batteries give any issues but i'd be doubtful

did you try removing the battery and leaving it out for a few minutes?

Immediately when you put the battery in there is a green led that will flash briefly (Presuming this is on a classic and it happens before you put the battery cover on). If this flashes I would think it was a pairing issue rather than a powermeter fault
What head units are you using garmins especially can be a bit flaky after a battery replacement on any type of ant+ device (hrm, speed etc). Deleting the device and re pairing has worked for me in the past.

If you are still stuck send power2max a message they are usually quick to reply.

the battery is fine I think, the led flashed green alright. the head unit and laptop both recognised the power meter. I was getting a Garmin (705) error message that said it was detecting multiple external power sources. i think at 1 a.m. last night the head unit started to show the wattage after 5 hours of doing. that was after I backpedalled 5 or 6 times. must check again later

If it's a garmin head unit put your HR strap on when doing the pairing and any calibration. After the initial pairing it should be fine without the HR monitor except when you want to calibrate it (like before an FTP test). Aparently it's some sort of a garmin oddity.

that's mad. i'll try that later, thanks

From memory the 705 will take its time trying to get a gps signal rather than pairing an ant+ device.

Go outside let the unit locate itself and then re pair.
