Confidence in Ruby

First things first this is not a Ruby bashing thread and I hope it doesnt descend into one. I'm no jockey and never have been so can't abuse a man that does such a job for our entertainment.

Just wondering what do people think of his riding at the moment. Is he trying to just get over the last irrespective of the price of the horse and trying to pop it instead of pushing his mount into it like any other hurdle or fence or is his confidence shot.

Is it the style of Irish racing that come the last few hurdles they only seem to be going a decent gallop especially with the ground being so poor.

It's been well documented and he has got an awful lot of stick about it and it has unduly stemmed from last years festival fall on you know who.

Is it just a confidence thing? (Possibly)
Is he just going about finishing races the wrong way? (Sometimes)
Would you be wary of his confidence come Cheltenham? (I wouldn't)

Just an example of today was his ride on Tennis Cap, he was behind was pushed right into the last and gave him a great leap. His next two rides were going well into the last coming to possibly win their races but both blundered, Union Dues the unlucky one and Acapella Bourgeois getting going again after a great sit by the man.

Personally I ain't sure on it, I've no gripe with him at all as I'm not a gambling man so it sure ain't pocket talk and think he is a top jockey.Sometimes though you do think he does be going to easy on them and they clip the last and do sometimes come down.

What are others thoughts on it?

Ruby is doing a preview tonight. Be interesting if it's brought up because I have yet to actually hear Ruby himself discuss it. McCoy might give him stick now tonight over it.

Personally I don't know what to make of these last flight falls, I did think it was just coincidence but now I'm starting to wonder. It's bizarre tbh. It's not like he's just arrived on the scene. He's been a professional for nearly twenty years, 45 Cheltenham winners, over 2500 winners, won the Grand National at his very first attempt, has a very good Grand National record aswell. Strange one.

Doubt he cares about the punters costs. He is more worried about the owners and the trainers he is riding for. Ruby has no connection and doesn't want any connection with the general public punters whatsoever and he has said it in ways on numerous times.

All sportsment/women have there spells when their confidence dips, this is his dip right now but it has become a more frequent thing of late or so it seems.

I don't believe its a conspiracy either, sure if he was to falling off horses on purpose as some believe  I highly doubt a smart man like himself would be leaving it till the last fence/hurdle to do so! In saying that he made a savage recovery earlier on the Hughes horse

Ruby put supreme trust into his horse, that's why horses travel so well for him. He sits and let's them do there own thing. It takes tremendous guts to ride the way he does and he should be applauded for it.

Great piece from Kevin Blake about it.

Personally I think hes just having a run of bad luck. He's the most high profile jockey with the best job in NH racing so of course its going to be blown up and highlighted.

It would never put me off backing a horse of his.
