HG658c dropping BB

I'm out of contract with my current BB provider and they will only replace the router if I resign. I haven't decided what to do yet.
In the mean time the router is dropping the BB on/off several times a day. It's definitely the router as the connection between us and the 'cabinet' has been investigated. It drops using Wi-Fi and cable.
I have replaced the cable between the router and socket. This hasn't solved the problem. The Link light goes out and the signal can take ~2/3 minutes to come back.

Is there anything else I can try? Only have that router about 2 years.

Randomly losing sync can be the modem(router) but its far more likely the line is dodgy.

Insist on a call out and have them put a meter on your line and test it properly.

Did that. Someone came out and investigated it. They changed something at the exchange, change the cabling for new ones and even were elbow deep in the services outside the house. He said he changed everything he could and if the problem continued then the issue was internal, likely the router.

    Same situation Marges.

Euro50 for a replacement or free with a new contract in April

so what replacement would be equal or better than the vodafone HG router ? or get another vodafone one.

    Thanks,

    K

Don't know karltimber. They were trying to sell me the new LightSpeed Broadband, powered by SIRO. But I think I might hold out.
If I get a new router, I'm not certain I could config it to talk to the Vodafone network.
Under WAN settings there is a username/password that I can't edit under Admin mode. So I can't see how I would replicate the settings on a new modem/router.

If you can get Siro, GET SIRO. Its an ethernet WAN interface so any cable router will work out of the box.

Just a quick follow up to this...

So, the problem has settled down. I have no explanation, I did nothing to remedy it.

However, every time the thermostat runs upstairs it drops the Broadband. It doesn't matter whether it's being accessed via WiFi or Power Adapter, the router has a status of 'not being connected to the internet'. The router is in a different room to the thermostat.

But I can live with that for now. As soon as I hear the thermostat go I know the BB will disappear for a minute or so.

Is your fuse box near your master socket?

Nope, different ends of the house. The thermostat isn't too healthy I think. It makes noise just before the light goes out.

So you are using home plugs? I find if I pull out the power line adapter in our bedroom, it can cause the cpe to reboot? Some day I might just wire the whole place using cat 5e
