Currently being discussed on Liveline, the long and short is that a DCU student body hired out a train to Galway and allegedly it came back in a heap. More details below.

Seems like Irish Rail should of been more prepared for this?

    Taken from facebook page:

Surely Irish Rail weren't expecting for there to only be a few bottles to clear... Ask any venue with a function room what it looks like after a 21st party and they'll have similar horror stories. Still disgusting that seats etc were ruined, but surely Irish Rail weren't naive enough to think that students never throw up when drinking.. Whoever gave the OK for the event obviously hasn't been to ****e Night.

Just some midrange communication graduates looking for a story, to fill there otherwise monotonous and uneventful publication

Well u dont exactly need to be mystic meg to predict what's gonna happen if u invite 160 drunken students onto a train without toilets for a few hours.... and the fact that he refers to a used condom when they were all engineering students only shows that the man is liar anyway

i'm surprised IE have the stock for charters seeing as they cannot match capacity to the demand on some services still? i would bet it was likely mid morning when that train ran but no doubt the connolly side will have been the one to bare the brunt in some way or another.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

You've lost your bet. The train left Heuston late in the evening and returned to Dublin at 5AM :)

How do you know he is a liar? Do engineering students not use condoms?

Aside from the fact that the link tells us that it was
a joint DCU Engineering Society and Science & Health Society

Maybe the health society should educate the engineering society

Are people actually blaming Irish rail for this?

The only people who should be ashamed of themselves are the people who destroyed that train. All trains have CCTV they should use the CCTV footage to find the culprits.

I am sure DCU does not want to be in the press like this and would be very helpful in the investigation.

If the partying students were as wild as is alleged then its little wonder only two toilets were out of order :)

This is why CIE used to keep rakes of old six-wheelers in Cobh carriage shed. :D

Anyone who went to college in Waterford a while ago would remember the "rag train" when the a train would be hired during rag week to go to a mystery destination (Rosslare, Kilkenny, Clonmel etc), and would always return trashed. The town visited would usually be trashed as well. This brings back memories, but sounds tame enough.
