Stripping paint of kitchen cabinets

    Hi

I'm looking for some advice. I inherited a painted kitchen when we bought our house. It was solid oak initially that was hand painted years ago. It is not all chipped, hard to clean and looks terrible.

It's a solid kitchen with a nice design which makes me reluctant to throw it out in favour of an ikea/cash and carry kitchen.

My question- is there anyway to completely strip the paint off before I get them resprayed? I don't want to paint over a bad paint job. I see threads in America about dipping cabinets to remove all paint. Is there anything like this in Ireland?

Many thanks in advance for recommendations and advice!

My parents did this themselves in a house they purchased in America years ago. It is a huge job (especially in American kitchens) and they were exhausted and fed up when it was done. The kitchen looked miles better, though. If I were you, I'd try to have someone come in to do it. (Sorry, I don't know anyone in Ireland who does this kind of work, but maybe another poster does.)

I'm still looking for someone/ a company that does this in Ireland? I want them to take away the kitchen and bring it back to natural wood before I get it sprayed fresh. Any recommendations? I live in Galway.

Did you ask any of the spraying companies? I'd imagine most would carry out this work?
