Hi all, I'm new on here and need advice from ye sheep experts.

What ram is best suitable to cross with a scotch ewe, with the aim of the offspring be used as ewes for an early lambing system?

I've been considering Blue leicester, Border leicester, suffolk so far.

    Cheers in advance

Another vote for the texel here, nice allround sheep, with a speckled head.

I think i will need to start a poll for ye to vote on as well as the election tomorrow!!

Texel always interested me but often thought they were abit short, I suppose they make up for it on confirmation.

Also any advice on the Do's and Don'ts of an early lambing system. Knowledge is king and would be interested to see what ye think.

run an early flock here which are mainly suffolk and texel second and third x off mayo mule ewe

no sponging ...the suffolk ewes lamb that little bit earlier, and their lambs seem to get away faster, all early lambs are sired by hampshire down rams
