Toyota Dealer (Greystones) thumbs up

A lot of negative stuff re dealers, so here is a good story. Family member wanted the new Prius so went to test one at her local Toyota dealer, Johnson & Staunton in Greystones. She really liked the car, but couldn't get the color she wanted (red was a 3 month plus leadtime), so she reluctantly settled on Silver and paid a deposit. The next day she discovered that another dealer could source a red one within 10 days. She went back to Greystones but they could not get that car for her, but happily refunded the deposit and she did the deal with the other dealer.

At every stage the service from Johnson and Staunton was superb, really good salesperson, a good deal, just fell down on colour. The fact that they made no issue of returning the deposit really stands to them. She will be using them for all her servicing. I would recommend them 100%.

Great for a change to hear a good experience with a main dealer.

    Good example.

Just perhaps make sure that the red one is a new car and not a pre reg where she will be 2nd owner.

If registered to a dealer surely it'd still be on 0 owners?

Nope. If it's already reggged to the dealer, as in it has a reg number - (no suggestion that it is) it's 0 PREVIOUS owners, till you buy it, then it's 1 previous owner ie 2 owners.

It just sounds like the other dealer has one on allocation from Toyota but not in yet, or has a swap arranged with another dealer for one that's on allocation.
Because Toyota stuff is generally just a simple trim level without options, they have most stuff on order rather than doing a factory order with interior trim, audio, styling options etc as you'd often do with the likes of VW.

She's no oil painting that is for sure, but unlike previous Prius's this one has a nice interior, is very refined, rides well and feels like a proper car. She tried previous generations and my advice was always to wait until later generations were more resolved. This one feels like it is.
