Damaged wing mirror NCT fail?

Got to my car in the car park this morning and found my wing mirror pretty mangled. I know the car that did it so will be stalking the car park to find out who owns it.

Managed to force it back into position so it looks OK and works fully but the cover is very loose and a small section broke off. I think tape will hold it secure but I'm worried that would cause an NCT fail. Car is 04 focus so I don't want to put a ton of cash into it.

    Damage and current pics attached

Mk1 focus mirrors are unlike any I've seen, it takes a serious amount of force to fold them back.

As you can see I was reversed into the space and inside the line. The car on my passenger side was close to the line on their side but had driven in. I figure they reversed too fast and caught my mirror in theirs

    NCT manual https://www.ncts.ie/media/1004/nct-manual-july-2014.pdf

From what I see in the pics - not likely a fail if you can see what's behind you in mirror and there isn't jagged edges anywhere.
Even if it fails is it's just a free visual retest that will take a few seconds to check.

I've passed NCT 2 or 3 times with a banger that had both mirrors held in place with tape. As long as they're usable and they aren't flapping around you'll be ok.

Thanks folks, you've really put my mind at rest! So flipping annoying but it could be worse. It's still attached and the mirror part is movable from inside. Will pick up some tape at lunchtime.
