First time car advice for GF

GF has a budget of about €1500 for her first car,

The requirements - needs to be above 2001, below 1.2 litre, preferably 4 door,
Been considering a Nissan micra, Yaris, opinions welcome

This has caught her eye, I've no experience of them

That model Micra is not great, timing chains are known to stretch on them. That one looks rough enough too and was could have been a rental car at the beginning of it's life. Most stuff being sold by dealers in that price range are going to be less than good and don't expect much in the way of warranty as there is very little dealer profit in that price range which makes the risk not much better than buying private.

I'd look at something like a Renault Clio, great little car:

Hadn't considered a Clio, fabia is a little too big, would have to be a 4 door,
Looking at these online, deciding what's best value and looked after, would consider other models, namely Yaris, corsa and other suitable models

Went to look a friends clio at the weekend, overall was impressed with it.
The search is more or less narrowed down to a Clio or a Yaris and the outsider the fiesta now.

Tax is slightly dearer on the 1.2 clio and fiesta but wouldn’t be the deciding factor, decisions decisions

Just be aware that it's hard to find a 1989 to 2002 shape Fiesta that doesn't have serious rust issues.

Citroen C3, Have one, 1.1L, no trouble so far, 1500 should get you a 2003 or 2004 I'd say
