    Does PTSD come under an illness? I want to claim benefits because it's preventing me from working.

    Start by seeing your GP.It will be their decision if you are fit for work or not.

    Go to your GP discuss with him about being unfit for work.
    Ask him for a note for your employer and a SW cert. He will sign it you can complete it and bring it to your local SW office

    Exactly this, explain to the welfare what you're situation is and back it up with a letter from the gp, also ask the gp if there are any counselling options he could recommend. Best of luck
