Hi, looking for some small(er the better) flashing front and rear lights set. I picked up a nice set from wiggle but one wet ride over the back wheel seen it shot, I found 100% waterproof Knogs on chainRs but at 55 for the pair there are a bit out of price range.

    Any recommendations guys?

My exposure flash / flares have stood up to the worst of rain. They're turned on by tightening them, thus increasing their seal. One advert I saw for them was a light being dropped in a pint of beer.

They come with two rechargeable batteries and a charger. Decent beam on the front one for emergencies where you need to see (aa well as being seen).

Edit - they're outside what you're willing to pay, but in my experience you needs to shell out a more than modest amount for quality. €40 per end on a bike is not too bad for quality lights.

I would like one that can hold up to a back wheel full of water hitting it on the days that I get caught out. Don't know if that's a big ask from a rear light or not, the last one I had lasted one ride!

Quality no doubt, but at a price, I thankfully never really get caught out in dusk or dawn so prob more light that I need, it's really only a strobe kinda light I need, thanks for the remm, I may ever go for them if I can't find any thing in budget.

Another option is to move the light out of the firing line of the rear wheel spray. I've mounted rear lights on the right hand seat stay below rim level. Still perfectly visible to traffic and a lot less water hitting it.

    Like the idea, thanks.

Any of the Cateye or Smart lights I have used have held up against the worst Ireland has to throw at them without issue

Thanks guys for all the replies. Once again Boards has come up top trumps for recommendations. Went with a set of Knogs. Both the 4 set and the 1 set. So far hit with water/spray head on and held up. Rated as 100% water proof and good clear flashing light. Claimed battery life is way off but usb rechargeable makes up for that.

Thanks for the replies and hopefully this will help others.

I have set of these and they have worked flawlessly. Even survived our wettest December in records. Did that Ralpha Festive 500 on them.

I wouldn't recommend those myself. The light works fine but the rubber strap gets brittle and snaps. I had a front and a rear at one stage and both have snapped taking them on and off for recharging. I had them only a few months.

Recently bought a rear exposure flare.
Great light get about 3 hours out of a charge.
The only bad thing it can be difficult to turn on sometimes whatever way the switch works.

    Ease off on Weetabix :D
Mine on for well over a year with no issues.

Regarding Smart lights - In my experience, on a very long and very wet ride (e.g. 10hrs+), they do suffer but they seem to default to staying on continuously rather than flashing. At the end of the ride, they can't be switched off until they dry out again. (They are no problem on normal wet rides).
