Choosing leaving cert subjects

I'm currently in TY and I have to choose my subjects for the leaving cert this week... I honestly don't have a clue what I'd like to do when I leave school.. I'm interested in science, it was one of my favourites in 3rd year & I got an A in the junior cert so maybe something to do with science would be good for me.
So far I've definitely settled on
    Irish
    English
    Maths
    French
    Probably biology
& music as an extra subject

I'm not quite sure what else to do. I've narrowed it down to 2 of either:
    Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Home ec.

I heard from the year above me that home ec is so stressful & difficult for the leaving, I really enjoyed it in 3rd year so I'm not sure about doing it now after hearing that. (I got an A in it).

If anyone could help me choose my last last 2 subjects that would be great. I'm so lost at the moment! :(

I do both Chemistry and Physics and I find them both quite enjoyable. However I would say Leaving Cert Chemistry and Physics is incredibly different to Junior Cert Chemistry and Physics (unlike Biology). They're quite nice though and I personally find there's a nice bit of choice when it comes to both papers. If you're interested in science they're no brainers really!

I don't do Home-Ec but based on what I've gathered from my friends who do it, it seems to be mainly stressful in 5th year trying to get the Journal work done. But now at this time of the year in 6th year, they seem to be much more relaxed with the subject so that may be a big part of it. I'm not certain though, I'm sure others know much better.

Thanks! I think I'm going to go with chemistry. Just stuck between home ec and geography now! Yeah all the fourth years seem to be complaining about these journals.. I need to find out more about them and hopefully I'll have a decision soon! Ahh the struggles!

I don't do Geography or Home Ec (take my advice with a pinch of salt!) but I think if you enjoyed Home Ec for the JC you'll enjoy it at LC level. It seems to be a continuation on from JC with the special diets and stuff, and the people I know who do it really enjoy it. The journals definitely do look daunting, but I'd say if you keep on top of the work they wouldn't be as bad as you'd think.

Geography on the other hand seems to involve a lot of rote-learning of essays. A good few people I know who continued with Geography ended up dropping out because they found the subject boring and tedious at LC level.

Have a look at the exam papers online and see if the material of both subjects interests you. Best of luck!

I'm in TY right now and I am going to do Home Ec for the LC. I know it will be stressful but I want to be a Home Ec teacher.
I have to choose between Biology and Geography after that. I've heard Geography is brilliant for points especially if you're good with verbal stuff. Those are just my thoughts. I think it would be difficult to do both biology and home ec. Hope i helped

I do Geography, Physics and Chemistry.
With Geography it's hard not to find it tedious. Each essay you do needs about 15 SRPs which are significant relevant points so any good piece of information to back up your point made will suffice. There are areas that are enjoyable in the course but its such a vast and wide course, some people will find it daunting. Saturation of information and facts in needed so if you're good at learning off facts and information for a wide range of topics, this subject will suits you.
Also bear in mind that you have to complete a field study investigation worth 20% of the overall grade. This year my class and I went to a river and spent the day completing activities revolving around the river.

Its a good subject given the fact you do your work from the start as if you leave it till last minute, you will have information overload and will be stressed out.

    Hope I helped :)
