    Hi all,

Trying to find the highest wind gust on record for Dublin airport?
I was working on the New Years day storm in 2005 when an Aer Lingus A330 was blown under the wing of another on stand. The highest gust that day was 73kts. Is that the highest would anyone know?

    Thanks in advance

73kts seems a bit..... lowish. Maybe it was the highest, certainly wasn't at SNN, although SNN can experience stronger gusts sometimes

Possibly 27 Feb 1903 surpassed these maximum gusts, sorry I have no idea where to find data that far back. Maybe an e-mail to met.ie? There was a legendary windstorm through the midlands towards Dublin on that date probably stronger than 2014's storm Darwin and aimed more towards Dublin. Of course there was no Dublin airport then but if you want an absolute maximum value ...

    Think SNN's highest is 87kts

Thanks MT, interesting alright. It's for a semi official company document so it's probably better to use actual EIDW records.

    For Shannon it's 93kts "Hurricane Debbie" 16th Sep 1961

The windshear would not be the main concern :P
