Satalite Signal Strength?

I am looking to change to free-air TV, as opposed to pay. I have an old Sky Satalite dish installed, and got a Sagam receiver. I am getting quite a few channels, but evry time there is a breeze i loose the signal. I've checked the signal strength and it only seems to be between 46-53%, I'm think that's the problem? How do I fix that, do I need to reallign the dish, and if so what is the best position?

You would most likely need to realign the dish. There could be a possibility of a loose connection at either the dish or going in to the back of the Sagem receiver, try looking at this first.

The signal strength isn't as important as the signal quality....

Having said that, if the dish is properly aligned you should be getting well over 50%...I'm on the east coast and get 80%+ with the standard sky dish.

You can buy a satellite signal meter for under €20 (they have them in Power City) although they only indicate the strength of whatever satellite they're pointed at (they wont tell you which satellite it is and there are quite a few up there)...so to get it better aligned, only make miniscule adjustments...best of luck!

Yes the signal quality is also around 50% so I'll check connections & then allignment of the dish. I live in Dublin, so probably need to aim to get about 80% as exaisle suggested
