Trade in with no NCT and high mileage

I'm looking at upgrading my car soon and am looking to go through a dealership mainly for reliability and decent after sales.
My current car is an 05 1.4 Petrol Mk5 VW Golf, it has huge mileage of 275000km due to travelling cross country to work and has no NCT. (Massive mistake buying it in the first place)
I'm here to try and save my self from potential embarrassment so my question is, would a garage take my car on trade in?
All I'm looking for at this stage is 800€-1000€ Just to go towards the deposit on the new car! There is a small bit of work to be done on the car too so that's why my sights are set so low.
    Thanks

They would, but I'd look into selling privately too as its not worth a whole lot and you might get as much of a discount buying it straight.

Is the NCT doesn't pose many problems I'd get it NCT'd before selling privately. It'll be much more attractive to buyers.

Did you buy it without nct and never get it nct'd?

If there's small work needed get this done and then sell it private and use the cash towards the other car.

Less than 500€ would get it NCT'd but would it be worth it, surely the car isn't attractive to buyers privately with 275000km?

You'd get about 2k privately i'd say if it passes the NCT and it's in good condition.

275k km for an 11 year old car isn't that high. Above average but a lot of the major wear and tear items have probably been done by now I would imagine.

Meh the mileage wouldn't put me off if it's well maintained. However Joe paddy seems to think anything over 100 k km is only fit for scrap no matter what so you might struggle to sell it privately.

Based on previous posts, if you were availing of one of the various scrappage offers against a new model, they'll take in anything with 4 wheels.
