how much an acre would it cost to reseed an acre, i have around 5 acres that i might do. i was thinking of just power harrowing it and discing it instead of ploughing it. so how much an acre are grass seeds to buy and how much an acre do the contractors charge to do it? i persume i would have to put out 2 ton of ground lime to the acre aswell or could you chance granualated lime?

Two ton of lime minimum of going min till. That's 46 grass seed around 80-90 per acre. 4 bags of 10-10-20 so another 80. Then spray another 10 so 220 plus contractor per acre . Ploughing method is 130-150 per acre around me and couldn't tell you what min till is.

Soil sample first then start worrying about the price

Loads but it needs feeding and looking after. No point reseeding either if you don't need the grass. Too many lads reseed ground and don't keep it grazed properly and it turns back fairly quick.

Don't bother with the disc. Spray, graze tight, lime, 2 runs of the power Harrow. Seed, fertilise and roll

Have 5 acres that I intended reseeding this year so left a few cows on in for the winter. As you can imagine it's cut to bits at this stage , would that need to be ploughed or would the disc do it.Any advise welcome?????

If its already fairly well cut up the power harrow on its own will do a pretty good job on it.
