I have what's known as a Euro Cylinder lock on my front door. The problem I have is you need to lock the door by hand when inside the house. The kids are constantly forgetting to lock the door. I was wondering if it is possible to easily replace this lock with one that automatically lock once the door is closed. Don't want to spend a lot on this. Thanks.

I guess you have a handle on the outside that will open the door if not locked from the inside with the key? Seen it before and it's a nuisance. You can rectify this easy enough. You need a split spindle: basically this will allow you to only engage the double locking from outside but you will need a key to gain entry. Opening /closing from the inside does not change.

Only downside is that on a summers day when the kids art trapsing in and out, you'll be opening the door for them much more frequently unless they've a key.

Also, for internal security, you can change the cylinder to one which has a thumb lock on the inside. Means you're not looking for a key to lock it at night before heading to bed. Just twist to lock. Very handy.
