Which comparative texts are you guys doing? (HL)

Haven't started any English work yet and I really need to decide what texts I'm studying. I think Emersyn gave me a suggestion but I wonder what my other options are. I don't want to pick something that doesn't really invite comparison so if you could just list the three texts you're doing that would be great.

    Thanks!

I'm repeating so I'm doing All My Sons, Othello and The King's Speech. I did AMS and Othello last year which is why I'm doing them again. I haven't done a thing yet, however, so I may pick up what is being taught in my English class.

Hi, we did: The Kings Speech
    The plough and the stars
    Foster
They really fit in well together, Keynotes does an excellent book with these in it. I'd reccomend buying it, if you choose this option :-) hope this helps!

    Great Gatsby

Work very well together and Key Notes is fantastic for notes and sample essays

Make sure you are choosing options from the correct list (2016 or 2017) as they change a bit every year.

I would recommend getting the Keynotes book as it is quite comprehensive in its treatment of the comparative compared to other books.

    The Great Gatsby
    The Uncommon Reader
The King's Speech - they all link so so well! Especially on the grounds of social class and expectations etc

Thanks for the responses guys. I've read the great gatsby and watched the King's speech in previous years so maybe I should pick those? Sorry but what are these "keynotes" books you guys keep referring to? I've never heard of it before.

This is the book we're referring to. It deals with The Plough and the Stars, Foster and A King's Speech for the comparative. It also has good notes for poetry and King Lear.

It's a revision book with comprehensive notes for all aspects of Paper 2, so Lear, all the poets and HL poems, the comparative and unseen poetry. Really good book! Shows you exactly how to maximise your marks.
