    Hi ladies,

Looking to get her good self a specific Chanel handbag she has long admired but have no clue how to source same. It's very similar to the below but BT Cork don't do Chanel and I'm not sure if there is a good/reliable website I could use instead?

    https://www.therealreal.com/products/women/handbags/shoulder-bags/chanel-quilted-classic-medium-double-flap-bag-6

Ideally hoping to cap cost at €1,000 so even good quality pre worn might work.

    All advice appreciated.

    Cheers
    J

You won't get a new chanel flap bag for under €1000. You might even struggle to get a good quality used one for that price tbh.

Could you find out the exact one she wants and price it by calling the Chanel boutique in brown thomas in dublin? At least then you will know how much you are looking at and work from there to either buy it new or source one online.

If looking for second hand I'd suggest trying Siopaella in Dublin. They do good quality second hand designer clothes and handbags and have a good reputation.

Ouch. I was hoping €1k was a fair budget. Appreciate the reality check.

I would be fairly certain this is it - http://www.chanel.com/en_GB/fashion/products/handbags/g/s.classic-flap-bag-lambskin-gold.0V.A58600Y01295C3906.sto.ico.html

Here is a price guide http://www.purseblog.com/guides/chanel-classic-flap-bag-international-price-guide/

The smallest size, which really is tiny, starts at €1600. I think the bag in your link is the medium size so that's €4,260

Hmmmm. That's a bit more than I was budgeting for. Something like this will have to do so I guess.

    http://m.ebay.ie/itm/CHANEL-RED-QUILTED-CLASSIC-FLAP-BAG-W-RECEIPT-AND-CONTROL-CARD-RRP-1646-/161978159537?nav=SEARCH

I was watching it but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't like red.

Again, thank you for the feedback.

I have a classic flap bag I was gifted a few years ago. I think it was in the region of €3,500 back then. The price goes up every year by 5% so if you are committed to buying then don't wait.

I'd be surprised if you could get one of the decent sized classic flaps for under a grand. They hold their value pretty well, especially the black/neutral colours.

There's a shop in Dublin called Design Exchange that have some Chanel second hand classic flap bags in at the moment but even so they're over €3,000. They have a facebook page and they say all their stuff is genuine with proof.

If you're going to buy new, for that money I'd say go to Dublin and have your wife try on a few. I think they're quite bulky/heavy really and she may be happier with a smaller size when she tries it in person.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Can I ask you your thoughts on the one I linked above from EBay? Does that strike you as cheap given it looks legit?

I guess I will have to ask how she feels about a used one which is a shame as I wanted it to be a surprise.

The one on eBay isnt a classic flap even though the description says it is. It's not quilted for a start and the inside is nothing like what it is supposed to look like, it's more like a wallet on a chain but still not the exact same. It doesn't look quite right to me, the leather is pretty wrinkled on the front which shouldn't happen on a so called barely used bag. I have a small classic flap bag and it still looks brand new 7 years later with light use.

Check out thepurseforum.com, there is a chanel section on there. It's a great resource for bag research

For a €1000 budget you can get a really nice bag. Does it have to be chanel? Are there any other designers she likes?

I agree with ceadaoin. The one on eBay doesn't ring true to me.

Personally I would avoid buying something like this on eBay. Unless you are well versed in what to look for, it's too risky.

If it doesn't have to be Chanel, net-a-porter.com have some lovely designer bags for €1,00 and under and they're a reputable site.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply and advise. Given I can't get what I want easily I'm just going to spoil the surprise and ask what she would like.

    Thanks again folks!
