    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone who has had laser eye surgery a long time ago could share their experiences? (8,9,10 years ago or more)

I'm considering getting laser eye surgery and just reading up about it.

I had laser eye surgery on my two eyes at the Wellington eye clinic in 1998. It was a very simple and professional process which was very successful. I did not use or need glasses until 2015... But then again I'm now 50! I now use reading glasses in the evenings but don't need them in bright lights. I had very bad eyesight and my eyes had become very sensitive to contact lenses. I was always delighted with my decision to go ahead and have laser surgery and it enhanced my life. I would recommend to anyone. I have two friends who also had surgery about the same time. Neither of them needs glasses yet!! Good luck with your decision

Similar to the above, I had both eyes done about 12 or 13 years ago.

Just recently I had to resort to reading glasses for dim light or small print (much to my disgust!)

I had had astigmatism, and a small amount of short-sightedness. I was about 35 getting it done, so late enough. The doctor at the time warned me that I may get 5 years, or I may get 15 years or more out of it - the long-sighted thing kicks in eventually in everyone.

My only regret is that I hadn't had it done years before.

I know quite a few people who had it done well before me, and they're STILL not wearing glasses!

Got it done in 2007 in the Beacon. Had to get glasses for driving two years ago. My eyes are getting a bit weaker all the time. So about 6 years only and it was fading over the 6th year.

Now mind you I had a -8 prescription and astigmatism.

Disappointed it didnt last long but I never regreted doing it, my vision was horrendous before... Like if i lost my glasses I was screwed.

Right now I need glasses to drive, cinema, some work situations and if im honest subtitles on a movie from across the living room are quite blurry. Could always go for contacts I guess....

Anyway, I would recommend it overall... The staff at the wellington were brilliant.

Edit. One thing, the wellington include a lifetime warranty should your vision dip below driving standard, they do a free correction. However my optician didnt recommend it when i went to get glasses. Risk vs reward basically... So I havent gone back to ask about it..

Had it done about8 years ago and I'm back in glasses for driving. I was -7.5 and -6.5 though so this is totally grand, only -1 in both now. Worth every penny
