Machine started fine today but found it later stuck in the cycle, with the drain pump running dry. Now as soon as I turn it on, onto any cycle setting, the drain pump operates initially as normal but then never stops - it just runs dry... Have checked the filter, drain pump and pressure switch at the top of machine and all is well. It seems like the controller might be at fault? Or else the drain pump uses a different sensor somewhere else that's faulty? Any ideas?!!

So mad I left the washing build up for tge last two weeks!! Edit - sorry it's Bosch Exxcel 1200 too not 1300... just feeling unlucky today!

Can you give me the Enr number and FD number please, it will be on a sticker on the inside of the door.
If theres an anti flood device fitted this would be the reason it could be pumping all the time so it could be leaking.

Cool, though I don't think there's anything like that on this model and it doesn't seem to have been leaking either. But you've made me very curious so here are those numbers!

    Enr: WF02464GB/01
    FD: 8211 600146

    Thx!!

Machine is approx 13/14 years old. Have the brushes in the motor ever been changed?

Can't believe the machine is that old! I don't know it's history so couldn't say about the motor brushes - both the drum and drain pump motors seem to be working fine though - what are you thinking?!

The issue is that the drain pump won't stop, even at the very start of a cycle, despite there being no water to drain and the pressure switch indicating this. My crazy theory at this stage is that some temporary blockage at the filter caused the pump propeller to jam momentarily and a current surge which then took out the switching electronics on the controller. Or some timer delay part of the controller which keeps the pump running for say 5 to 10 seconds after it checks the water pressure sensor is blown and no longer times out to turn off the pump?

Just to add my tuppenceworth , if the machine has a baseplate fitted it most probably has a leak detection switch, they are blue coloured and activated by leaking water, check the aeroboard hasn't tripped the micro switch which would cause the pump to run on it will be located in the centre of the base plate if fitted

Not that fancy a machine unfortunately! The only sensors that I can see are the thermistor/stat at the element module and the pressure switch near the top of machine...

Siemens/bosch had these switches fitted even then, is the base of the machine sealed up or can you see the drum etc if you look up from underneath?

Sorry, base is not sealed - open like in the olden days! Have followed all wires that leave the control panel and there really doesn't seem to be any other sensor so I'm almost convinced now that the control panel is at fault - might explain why no error/fault code is shown on the display...

ok if it has no leak detection it is likely the pcb, if you feel confident take it apart you will probably find a short which can be cleaned up occasionally, take some photos if you decide to take it apart makes it easier for re fitting the loom connectors
