(NaturalNews) In what is undoubtedly one of the most astonishing herbal cures story of the decade, a natural molecule from licorice root extract -- "glycyrrhizin" -- has been repeatedly and scientifically shown to block nearly all liver damage from both alcohol consumption and over-the-counter Tylenol pills (acetaminophen).

here is the company which is developing the product

NTX is a proprietary blend of Glycyrrhizin (extract of licorice root), Mannitol and Potassium Sorbate specially formulated to be infused with alcoholic beverages, creating a new category of science-meets-consumption called functional spirits. NTX was created to pioneer the functional spirits industry by leveraging the most innovative technologies and delivering enhanced, smarter products to our consumers.

NTX allows us to keep the fun, while drinking smarter. If you are going to drink, why not drink smarter?

It seems that the product cannot be bought over the counter, and will be introduced through partnership with NTX and the alcoholic drinks producers, who will infuse the product into their drinks... it will be marked on the label if the drink contains NTX.

This is really good news imo, and hopefully will take a lot of the burden off health services in countries where alcohol consumption is a major problem.

At the same time, there are many other conditions associated with excessive alcohol consumption that NTX cannot prevent, such as kidney disease, wet brain syndrome, DTs, renal failure, falling in front of a bus / down the stairs... etc

The FDA will probably suppress this and that will be the end of it.

What about a vaccine against making a show of yourself while inebriated.

To be honest, this is probably a bad thing as it might encourage some people to drink more thinking that they're safe from permanently damaging their bodies because, lets face it, that's exactly how this will be marketed and some guy will come on at the end announcing the caveats at a hundred words a second.

I wonder will this put a lot of people back on the beer?

Well I am of it seven years and having liver damage was only one of the many problems I had with my drinking, there's a lot more to the abuse of alcohol than liver damage, but it's to be welcomed none the less.

I don't think it will increase tolerance though.. most people will still be nodding off after 6 or 7 pints

I agree completely... it is probably better as a product to be used for damage limitation, it will remove one of the associated risks for drinkers
