My car key will not fit in my ignition, at all. VW caddy. I can see a white thing in the ignition cylinder (part of the cylinder, but it is obviously not retractiong. Who do I get to fix this? Regular garage? A car electronics place? or a car lock repair service? I have no clue.

you could try a drop of oil and clean all the grooves in the key.
I have no idea what the white thing is? Is it some foreign object or part of the switch?
Good luck! I once had to pull the ignition apart on my audi 80 as the electrical switch part failed.
flat bladed screwdriver sorted it. Had to push start the car in a tight space was an absolute b1tch.
Oh wait this thread is about you ;-)
