New ones ain't as strong as the older guns. Stuff going into them not what it used to be. That aside they're the same well designed gun they always were, look well and handle and point fantastic.

Beretta are for my money one of the best game guns around. Have used their 680 series guns (same as silver pigeon) in various grades for the past 30 years and never had a problem with them. From shooting vermin to top driven pheasant shoots you'll see silver pigeons in use and you wont go wrong with one of them

all the Beretta's silver pigeon have the same mechanism, the only difference is the wood grade or engraving,or both together, everything else is the same in all models

I couldn't agree more with post above. I just bought myself a 687 Silver Pigeon lll and I couldn't be happier with it. It closes like the door on a Golf, it feels solid and well made. More importantly, it brings down most of what I fire it at. As said above, the model lll is the same as the model l apart from the engraving and timber.

I've been putting it off for over a year now, I can't make my mind up between the silver pigeon or the b525. It will be the last shotgun I'll be buying it will have to see me out.

Both great guns, if you chose the one you prefer based on how it fits you personally then you won't go wrong.

The Beretta will always have the edge for me though.

If you asked me 15 years ago Beretta, fine guns, great design, handle 2nd to none. Ask me now the Browning 525 is a better made gun than a Turkish made Beretta. If it fits you then the Browning all day long.

Thanks for that, I was taking to a lad the other day and he said the very same thing.

silver pigeons are cracking guns...ive one for years and it takes all sorts of abuse and still as good as new...brownings are notorious for rusting and the barrels are not as tough as the beretta barrels..berettas are chrome lined.I,ve seen plenty of brownings shoot loose too after a short time..just my 2 cents worth.

Not to take from the Silver Pigeon, but I've seen a fair few Brownings and never seen an issue with rust. Ultimately, I think this can often be down to the owner of the gun and how well it's been looked after, tbh.

    Thanks,

    G.

Rust has never been an issue for me on the browning, it was on the older models though no doubt. Picked up a few new guns at a dealers recently and I have to say the the quality of feel you get from a browning is just not there with the new Berettas. I have heard too that the new Beretta Silver Pigeons are giving grief. Berettas generally fit most people better the lower profile and so on, they are a superb gun to shoot, for my 2 grand though I wouldn't buy a new one.

What grief are they giving? Thanks for your input

One report I heard from a shop was that the plating was coming off. Another reported issue with ejector, also top levers rubbing on the stock.
