Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone would know the answer to my question.

I'm currently on Casual Payments from Social Welfare (JSA) as I'm working part-time. I get €217 from work and €92.00 from Social Welfare per week. A slot has opened up in work for full time which will be double the hours (€440) per week. But out of this I will loose the €92 casual payment and will be paying tax. I can't afford to do double the hours for around €40 extra per week. Does anyone know if there's an incentive or help similar to the JSA Casual payment if I manage to get the full-time position?

I can't ask in my local office as the minute you mention full time it's a strike against you and you're cut off without explanation.

Never mind the tax, you will pay very little of it. It is USC that will make a hole in your income. Are you paying USC at present?

Yes I'm paying USC of €4 ish per week cutting my €220 per week to €216ish. I have been working part-time for a year now so tax will be coming into play very soon. From the full timers at work I'm hearing it'll be around €40-€60 per week

    Yep single and no kids.

I've been told there's a back to work initiative but I don't know if this applies as I've been on casual payment. I would have thought it would be for newely employed coming straight off unemployment.
