Hey folks. Just wondering have any of you had bother with an edge 810 letting water in around the charging port and making the connection all rusty. Mine won't seem to charge as a result now and as far as i can see I've been closing the cover properly. Seems like bad design on that feature.

Have an 810 for over a year. It's regularly out in atrocious conditions. Never had a problem with water ingress into charging port, but I am very careful to make sure it is properly closed after charging. Have seen some reports on here about water ingress mind.

Small drop of wd40 or switch cleaner would sort it

Have an 810 and never had a problem charging it but I do put in into the hotpress for a few hours if it has been out on a very wet ride. The maps distorted a few times but I just took out the card and cleaned it.

I presumed you've tried the usual things like putting it in a bag of rice etc.?

Thanks for the replies. Hooked it up to laptop and it charged. Will try the wd40 on it and make sure it is definitely closed next time i go out in the wet (about 30 minutes from now)

Put a very thin coating of Vaseline on the rubber cover which will help it seal against the USB port better.

Happened to me once when it was still a bit damp when charging. Cleaned the port with a soft toothbrush and am now very careful that it is bone dry before connecting it up.

My 810 is dead as a dodo being permanently frozen on "loading profiles".

After a wet spin,I dry my Garmin with a cloth. Then I leave my Garmin in the bedroom overnight with the covers over the USB and memory card slots open. No problems so far.
