    May she Rest in Peace.

Loved 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Fantastic read in school.

I shall finish with a quote from Homer J. Simpson:

"I'll have to read Marge's book. And I swore never to read again after 'To Kill a Mockingbird' gave me no useful advice on killing mockingbirds. It did teach me not to judge a man based on the color of his skin, but what good does that do me?"

Over twenty years later, and I'm still not over it. Imagine having an English teacher that didn't know the difference between an iconic reclusive hero of American literature and a character from the Dukes of Hazzard. . . .

My English teacher (who was pretty good in every other sense) had the annoying habit of pronouncing Neapolitan as "Nepal-ee-shan".

I'm one of those people who wait for a great writer to die before actually reading their book or books, sad I know. Maybe I should appreciate these writers more when they are alive.

I still maintain she should have faced criminal charges for being indirectly responsible for the Boo Radleys.

Shocking. The history teacher also once mixed up Vladimir Ilyich Lenin with Ivan Lendl - now Lendl did have a sour face on him at times, but I'm not really sure he deserved the comparison :)

Studied TKAM for Junior Cert. Our teacher went to the bother of acting out the accent of each character as he read it. He passed away a few months ago, actually.

    Cracking book, great teacher.

Bah. You've ruined it now :p

The whole thing about releasing her 'second novel' (really a rejected manuscript/early draft) a year or so ago left a very bad taste. Exploiting an elderly ill woman to make money.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Is the new novel she published last year any good?

Odd that as I was reading it yesterday when the news came in. " To Set A Watchman".. Nit sure to be honest. It does not have the immediate appeal of her first and is a deeper more thoughtful and slower book. Definitely not film material . Scout comes home aged 26 basically and things have changed...

    Wait.

Is it or is it not pronounced Boo Radley?
