Late season in Amade (or somewhere close to Munich)

    Hi,
I'm thinking of a (possibly solo) late-season weekend in Amade, flying to Munich on March 25 and returning on the 29th. Has anyone been there? Any advice, transfers to/from airport, best town to pick, etc. any information at all, much appreciated.

Or, anywhere close to Munich airport, with lots of kms of piste, and quality snowboarding/skiing, that would be good that late in the year.

If you are going that late would you not just hire a car and drive to St Anton?
I've driven from Munich and it's about 2 1/2 hours. You would be pretty much guaranteed a good couple of days.
I've been the first week of April and it was great.

Might just do that actually, was meant to go there for the main trip this year and loved the look of it. Thanks.

Was there for the today fm trip last month, had a lovely week in Bad Hofgastein,

I would most certainly go back for more skiing in Amade! got chatting to a local one night and he informed me that often times they can ski there right up to the 3rd week of April! I would say you would want to be on the first lift up in the morning and be calling it a day at lunch time,

we flew into Salzburg and it was an hour and a bit on the bus from the airport to the resort but I imagine it could be a bit of a trek from munich (google says 2.5 hours drive)

what I would say about Bad Hofgastein is the spa was a massive plus for us on the down day (our transfer out wasn't until 3pm on the last day), well needed after a long week of skiing/drinking

We were there couple of weeks ago, good spot, unreasonably expensive though.

I did a week there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the skiing and variety of terrain. You would want to stay in Bad Gastein to get good night life/apres though.

Well it's looking like it might be the first weekend of April now, so the flight and accommodation prices don't look too bad, pretty much the same as the 3V.
Have heard great things about the off-piste there. The only reason we didn't go there for the first trip this year, was because there were a few in the party were concerned it was above their skill-levels. Fingers crossed this trip happens! :D
Will save Amade for another year, earlier in the season, I reckon.

Yeah a lot of people go there just for the off piste but there is tonnes of piste and Lech is within easy reach for even more options. Food, booze, rental, pass etc is all pricy though not as pricy as Lech by the looks of the Porsche and Ferraris with snow chains :D

Avalanche risk was very high all week we were there didn't fancy it.

If you are leaving it that late just book your flight and car hire and don't even think about booking accommodation until a couple of days before. Realistically only the highest most snow sure resorts will be options.
Wait and see where has the best conditions within 2-3 hours drive and go there. You will have no problem with getting a room for a few nights that time of year.
I'd have no issue with a longer drive either, better another hour each way in the car if it means better conditions.
Great time for a short break if you get the snow.
