The July December 2015 newspaper circulation numbers are out (well the traditional Irish papers gave up their numbers).

Nothing you'd not expect. SW took a bit of a beating down 14k and the tabs in general are struggling.

    Done the customary here http://ilevel.ie/media-blog/print/newspaper-circulation-july-dec-2015

    Any questions/suggestions/opinions- just fire.

Great article C, well done, good analysis and interesting charts.

The terminal decline continues as the industry gradually moves towards digital.

Specifically, the trends that started 10 or so years continue. The stats in your iLevel article are stark when one considers the declines over the last decade.

The whole market is in long term decline but the the tabloids are declining at a much faster pace than the broadsheets.

Bulk games, to hide declines, are being played by the Irish Times, Indo and the Sunday Business Post. (I get a free SBP every Sunday in the gym!).

It is shocking seeing the Sunday Times Irish Edition at 79k, not so long ago it was 110k.

One wonders what the next step is:
    - UK newspaper pulling out of Ireland or
    - INM closing selected titles such as the Sunday World or
    - Smaller players in the Irsh market going to the wall or
    - UK newspaper ending Irish edition or
    - Some newspaper going digital only.
All 5 things will happen, it is just a case of when.

    Class pice of arse here:
    http://www.irishtimes.com/business/media-and-marketing/decline-in-newspaper-sales-slows-says-abc-report-1.2540341

While reporting their own figures they use the "all" metric - they sell about 7,000 papers up North and abroad - which they, naturally, include in their overall figure.

However, when reporting the figures for the Mail (Daily + Sunday) and the Star they report only RoI figures - lazy - if they looked at the certs issued by the abc they would have found the actual.

Yeah, another slanted piece by Laura Slattery on the ABC numbers. She also fails to mention bulk copies in her analysis. The Indo ABC fluf piece was even worse.
