A question about DRL's

My 05 car has DRL's fitted, they are ice white in colour. They flicker when the central locking is first activated or deactivated. The Gardai pulled up beside me and accused me of having blue flashing lights. And accused me having put in a flashing light system so I could pretend to be a cop and that was the only reason I have them fitted. They then criticised me for having a multi socket 12V point and having a dashcam in my car. They said they will take me to court if I don't take them off. They also searched my car, and stopped short of criticsing me for having a army uniform in the car, even doh I am in the army. I am thinking of talking to the super about this.

get a bit of CTO gel which would be used for film or theatre lights, 1/16th CTO or 1/8th CTO and cover the bulbs, it'll take the colour temperature away from blue and bring it more to true white, then there won't be the slightest chance of it being mistaken as blue lights. Not sure where you'll find it but theatres throw tonnes of the stuff away once it's been used for a few hours on a light. Either that or change from any of the 'ice' white type bulbs to something 6500 degrees colour temperature or less, so it won't look blue.

    Dash cams aren't illegal

Do you drive a ford mondeo or some other garda fleet car? Could add to their theory that you were going for the undercover garda look

They were doing their job and investigating what may have been a security risk.

It wasn't , they went on their way.

It isn't their job to be pleasant although no doubt some go out of their way to do the opposite.
