Does anyone know if a new aeronautical Chart is due out for Ireland?

I called in to the OSI office and they were sold out of the 1:500,000 scale chart. They didn't seem to know.

there has to be, if the runway changes go ahead as planned in Cork.

It's ridiculous that the current VFR charts are from May 2013 they should be updated every year or even every 2 years like in the UK.

why? I don't fancy throwing out 30 euros for a piece of paper that's made un-current for no reason every year simply because UK does it..

If there have been no significant changes then the May 2013 version is still valid? If there has been changes made and there was no new version...then that would be ridiculous.

to me it "feels" that since 2013 all the major changes concerning VFR have been very recent, the N11 upgrade was finished just few months ago, Kilrush is no longer licensed (therefore should change the legend) since October, Cork is about to change the runway numbers.. id say the wise thing to do is to wait when that's done and release it then just when the flying season kicks off.

I don't see any need to release it every year unless you have a handful of major roads built from scratch, or some new wind farms or other permanent obstacles have been erected and so on.. for any singe individual items that might concern navigation or safety you always check NOTAMs anyway

It’s quite ridiculous, yes. The real problem mind you is the fact that a plethora of spot heights and slope gradients are completely inaccurate (dangerously so) and even non-existent in some instances.

New 7th edition released June 2017. The Irish Aviation Authority has produced a visual flight rules (VFR) aeronautical chart Scale 1:500,000. This chart is for VFR navigation within the boundaries of the Shannon FIR. The chart itself comes as is a single-sided folded map.
