Having looked around the different VW forums, I decided the best service manual for my VW Golf mk4 1.4 petrol would be this one. But when I looked a bit closer at it, this doesnt cover the petrol models. Most of the chassis is the same, but this is pretty much useless to me if the engines are different.

I bought the Haynes one a few months back and dont like it. I'm most interested in the wiring diagrams, engine sensors, electrical stuff, so what which service manual would you recommend?

If you are willing to install xp a computer you can get the genuine workshop manuals from the dark side of the internet. Also hundreds of dedicated vw sites on the internet with descriptions of how to do things often in more detail than any haynes manual.
