Sony Xperia E3 won't connect to wifi

As per the title has anyone figured out how to connect their sony phone to wifi. The phone connects but then it won't connect. It says the problem is an autorisation problem. The phone will connect to the internet if I change the wifi security to 'open' but it's not really a long-term fix.
