I have an old philips soundsystem from years ago (the kind that are advertised as being the more watts the better).....I want to use one of these as a bluetooth enabled unit by adding my own electronics.....

What exactly were those marketing dept. advertising when they advertised watts? How many would I actually need to drive the cones? It's not written on the speakerbox....I haven't opened it yet though....

Might help if you gave us the make/model of the components you're asking about.

It was popular at one time to quote PMPO wattage which was totally unrealistic and misleading. Boom boxes in the 80's were often attributed with huge wattage output that the batteries supplying them could never supply !!

Hopefully with a bit more info we can help you figure it out.

    Ken
