Setting up UK Bank Account for Apple Pay?

So with no sign of Apple Pay coming here any time soon, I was wondering if anyone had managed to set up a bank account over in England or up North and then been able to use it in ROI.

I'm heading over to London soon and if possible, I'd like to set up a bank account so I could use Apple Pay in places that support it here.

Is that possible?

doubt it, you might have some luck with an Ulster Bank account up North. Or might be worth checking out if there's any Number 26 clones set up in England that offer Apple Pay on their cards.
