Help needed on Back to Work Allowance and Illness Benefit Query

    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone here has any idea what I should do in my current situation, it's all a bit complicated so I'll try and keep it as straightforward as possible.

Basically, I went on a BTWEA scheme last year, however, the business I put forward didn't work out and i realised that rather quickly so rather than going back to them I started another business which is doing fairly OK.

The business I went to them with was a sedentary job but the new business is a very physical job.

I got an injury just before Christmas and it's gotten a lot worse, I can barely walk up the stairs or drive. I've been at the doctor several times, had an X-Ray and an MRI and I'm waiting to see an Orthopedic Consultant. I've also been to physio and acupuncture all to no avail. I am now not able to work and wonder am I able to transfer to illness benefit for a couple of weeks to tide me over. I don't want to continue on BTWEA and not be working, my payment is also due to reduce to €144 and that is not enough to live on with no extra income from work.

I cannot seem to find out if I can transfer to illness benefit while on this scheme or should I go back on JSA and then go on illness benefit.

I've had a few very bad experiences with my welfare office in the past and I feel like every time I try and be honest with them or generally ask a question I end up opening a can of worms.

Any able to tell me what they think I should do.
