    Hey
I am 18 year old girl and I just got my Learner Permit. Now insurance is the issue. I want to get the Aviva Insurance and Lessons deal. My Dad also has insurance with Aviva but he drives a 141 Audi so I dont want to go near that. I was wondering if I buy a Micra can my Dad also be the named driver on that and can I use this deal? Any tips or previous dealing with this deal would be great:)
    Cheers

I have the aviva insurance deal, one thing to note is that each lesson is like a mini test, as in your instructor fills out a form with a different grade for each different thing (observation, hazard reaction etc.) every little mistake is noted and apparently that affects the price of the insurance in the future. It just makes lessons a bit more stressful.

I think that's a small compromise considering the fact they're giving you insurance as well.

For the micra, you won't be able to insure it in your name and put your dad as a named driver because it's not part of the deal, it only applies to you as a named driver.

If you were to put your dad as the main driver and you as a named driver on the micra then that would 'insurance fronting' and that's illegal and the insurance companies do find out and won't pay.

Why don't you want to use your dad's audi? At first it's all very new and you're really cautious but after a 2/3 lessons in your instructors car you'll get used to the mechanics of driving and then it's the exactly the same in your dad's car.

    Thanks for replying
The mini test does not sound great.I taught it was legal to be named driver on more than 1 car? I do not want to dive the Audi as it is too expensive and my Dad is always driving it

As far as I know you can be a named driver on as many cars as you want, but you would have to be the main driver on the micra if your going to be using it the most. Aviva will cop on very quickly when the realise that some guy has a 141 audi and suddenly buys a micra with his daughter as a named driver.

It may not be as big of an issue with the lessons and insurance deal but they will defiantly get suspicious in 6 months time when you have to get your own insurance

Its way cheapet to be named driver rather than main driver on your car but I know its not allowed

Passed my test with 3 grade one's and got back onto to aviva and got a €1100 discount I think. €1000 for me, my mam and my dad on the car for the year. Can't get an online quote for aviva but liberty quoted €2100 for the year so I'd say aviva are similar. The girl on the phone said it was brought down a lot because my instructor marked me very well on the reports, and probably on the basis I passed first time as well. Well worth going with aviva in my opinion.

Rang AVIVA insurance today - They sent me renewal to old address for 350 euro for Car Insurance.
I rang and they said oh because we are over x amount of days you now need a new business quote and are quoting me 530 euro because my wife since has 3 penalty points (1 fine)
So basically its 180 euro more expensive for 3 penalty points. Its a big scamp.
