Hi All, would like to ask your feedback on which you think is the best quality door and will last the longest. Is there really much of a difference not forgetting insulation benefits?
I'm in Navan and looking around for a new front door.

Thank you in advance far any advice you can offer.

    Cheers..P

From what I can gather from recently purchasing a new front door, composite seems to be the recommended type for front doors - its seems to be based on a number of factors including safety / security, quality, insulation. Not an expert, just some feedback.

    Hi
These are my favourite front door:
    http://www.munsterjoinery.ie/catalogue.jsp?p=124&n=642&pc=0&gc=20&c=1&ci=1&i=41

    Lots of colours/beautiful colours/great product.
    Approx €850 supplied I think.

I don't particularly want to promote Munster Joinery but they are the only suppliers I know that have this door - I'd be delighted to hear of others.
    Good luck!

These doors are total rubbish, cheap doors with a crap finish and will only last a few years . Go for the composite Palladio door. Excellent air tightness and u values won't warp like a timber door and will last way longer. Any door you get for €850 has to be crap. The composite doors will be over 2 grand but you get what you pay for

100%, whatever you do dont go for a timber door. The sister in law is pulling hers out this year due to the drafts around it. As Mick states, go composite, I in fact got a Palladio door in before christmas.

I'd say, stay away from pvc if you need quality.

When getting a new door make sure the lock barrell cannot be snapped or drilled easily, as this allows thieves easy access irrespective of how strongly the door is constructed.

+1 for the Palladio composite door. They're pricey but well worth it.

We got one installed last summer and it's made a huge difference to our hallway which used to be very drafty with the wooden front door.

We bought ours from Elite Windows. They're based in Galway but work all over the country.

What sort of money are we talking for these Palladio doors? I've a door in now 10 years and its driving me mad.
But can you specify the color to them?

So we have Elite Windows as one recommendation, do the others do them? And other good recommendations?

They're about 2k so they're not cheap but definitely worth the money.

There's a range of designs and colours.

We chose a door that originally had a pane of glass on either side and the door was in the middle of the frame and got it made with just one large side frame to the left of the door.

We went with black because hopefully it won't date as much as some of the other colours might.

    Okay great.
We have the exact same setup on ours. So was it cheaper to go with one side pane and door to one side than 2 side panes and door in the middle?

It was the same price to go with the one large side panel as with the two smaller panels on either side.

We applied for the Home Renovation Incentive though and got 13.5% back from Revenue. We got our windows done too so I'm not sure if the cost of the door is below the threshold or not.
