Timing belt kit/water pump

In brief- had a timing belt kit change a year ago on a Golf mk 5. Discovered a leak in the water pump (most likely the seal) a few weeks ago. Now, I know both the belt and pump should always be changed at the same time given you've got to get in there and take it apart. (Will given them benefit of the doubt that the pump was actually changed!) Would the experts here recommend getting both re-done, or just the pump?

If you're taking the belt off you may as well swap it.

Was it done in a VW garage? If it was they carry a two year warranty on that job.

Unfortunately not! Just galls me as my insurance was more than the cost of petrol I've put in her in the past year - to have the pump fail with such little use and time!

Some VW Garages have a special on for the timing belt/pump change at the moment.

    Worth checking around.
