Kitchen providers

Hi

We have agreed to build a relatively small extension onto our existing kitchen and will require a completely new kitchen. The budget is between 7 and 9k. The kitchen will run along one wall about 6 meters long and then we would like a 2m island at one end.

We have never bought a kitchen before. Where are the best places to go. Where can you get the best value. We do want to get a stone finish top. Where is the best advise to be had. Who should we get to fit it? The provider or a cabinet maker.


Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

6m of kitchen with units above and below I assume? Plus a 2 metre Island? Not exactly a small kitchen. With stone top for that at easily 3k.....9k sounds tight enough to be honest if you want anything nice like larder units, integrated bins etc. Maybe possible with a cheaper veneer or vinyl door. Are you including some appliances in that price ? If so then you are a mile off anything decent.

Hopping on the bandwagon, we are also looking for a kitchen for a new build at the minute - same questions as the original poster, where is the best place to go and best value to be had? IKEA vs cabinet maker??
Our kitchen is L shaped 5m x 2.5m with a 2m island. Preferably for a budget of 10k, any ideas?? We are based in the South East but willing to travel.

When buying a kitchen you could save money by buying the stone worktop from a separate supplier. It's worth pricing around.

Started our self build and pricing kitchens now too, L-shaped 4.2m x 3.6m.

Ikea quote including Whirlpool appliances and fitting = €8k
Local kitchen provider including fitting but no appliances = €16k.

We are still looking around but I think the Ikea kitchen showroom is great and the cabinets are guaranteed for 25 years, appliances 5 years IIRC.

ETA we are also including an island in those prices.
